BEFORE YOU GET VENEERS
-
- Your teeth and gums must be healthy before you get veneers. Your dentist can treat any decay before your veneers are placed.
-
- Veneers are not always a good choice for patients who clench or grind their teeth, because the thin veneers may chip or break. If you clench or grind your teeth, your dentist may suggest you wear a plastic night guard while sleeping.
-
- Although your dentist removes as little tooth enamel as possible for veneers, the process cannot be undone once the enamel is removed.
-
- It is possible for veneers to become come loose over time.
-
- Regular dental visits are a must for keeping your teeth and gums healthy.
AFTER YOU GET VENEERS
-
- Veneers can chip or break under pressure. Avoid biting your fingernails, and chewing on hard objects such as pencils or ice.
-
- It may take you a few days to get used to the feel of your new veneers. But do let your dentist know if your bite does not feel right after the veneer has been placed. We will correct it before you leave the office.
-
- You can still get cavities under or around veneers. Keep your teeth and gums clean by brushing and flossing each day.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR VENEERS?
If your teeth and gums are relatively healthy and you are looking to make cosmetic changes to your smile, you are a good candidate for teeth veneers.
HOW MUCH DO PORCELAIN VENEERS COST?
The cost of your teeth veneers will vary based on the type of material used, but there are more affordable veneer options.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A VENEER AND A CROWN?
A crown completely covers a tooth, while a veneer is much thinner and only covers the front. Crowns are the better option when a tooth has a large cavity or has been broken. Teeth veneers are best when you are fixing small gaps, minor misalignment, small chips, or stains.
WILL MY VENEERS LOOK NATURAL?
Yes! Your ceramist will use a shade guide to match your permanent veneers to the teeth on either side. They will also color and polish your veneers to be nearly identical to your other teeth.
HOW MANY VISITS WILL MY VENEER PLACEMENT REQUIRE?
In general, veneers only take a couple appointments to complete, thanks to our on-site master ceramist. After a consultation with one of our cosmetic dentists, we will create a digital mockup of your new smile. Once the smile design is complete and you are happy with your future results, our master ceramist will hand-craft your teeth veneers on-site. You will get the results of your dreams in less time and with a smaller margin for error than offices that must send cases out to dental labs.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT AS I RECOVER FROM VENEER PLACEMENT?
Immediately after veneer placement, you should avoid crunchy or hard foods. You may also stay away from very hot or cold drinks as your teeth may be sensitive for as many as 14 days.
HOW LONG WILL MY PORCELAIN VENEERS LAST?
With proper care, permanent veneers can last up to 20 years. The average is 7-15. You should brush and floss your veneers along with your natural teeth to prevent plaque buildup and cavities.
DO PORCELAIN VENEERS STAIN?
No! Porcelain is a non-porous material that coffee, tea, and wine cannot penetrate.
